My cat died suddenly!
by Fisherman ini did not realize that they were symptoms that something was wrong with my cat -but i did notice that my cat was breathing a little differently for a period of about a few days.
i also noticed prior and after to that, that on occasion, my cat would cry at the litter box, but that was a very seldom event.. anyway, about a week ago i noticed the symptom that my very loved cat was breathing heavy.
so i called a taxi and i was going to rush him to emergency room for cats.

So sorry to hear you have lost your cherished pet, it is also a terrible shock to see him die before your eyes and you can do nothing to help. Hope your memories will be a comfort. Many people who do not have pets find it hard to understand just how attached we become and how awful it is to lose them. -

Here in Scandinavia there are many ex Jws who have an interest in art and music. We have also a few media personalities who are ex jws. We were in a pretty laid back english congregation that was the original start up cong back in the 70's for all the foreign language groups. We had poets, artists and ex professional musicians.
It was interesting back in the 80's and the dress style was so cool, pioneer brothers with old army shoulder bags and parker coats for service (it is cold here in the winter). Sisters with very avant garde hairstyles and dress, knew some with nose piercing back in the 90's. All that slowly changed as the groups became congregations and conformed to the norm.
Some of the brothers have art galleries and some of the exjws do too. These days we have seen some jws become models working in europe/bloggers etc. It is a changing world once again but many keep it quiet.
There are two camps the really open minded and the closed. They both look down on each other and yet still seem to go along with all the jw propaganda, at least on the surface.
We had a brother who has sadly died, he was a character and a half, great artist, sailor, ran away to sea at 14. Fantastic cook, his get togethers were fantastic sitting around a long wobbly table surrounded by scores of canvasses full of colour and shapes/cubism or in the style of Georgia O' Keeffe. He would laugh with his big belly shaking when I asked about a picture if it was for sale. He called himself an art prostitute, he would paint anything anyone wanted he said.
Strangely the painting I bought, a very big oil painting cubism style, he kept photos of on his personal web page, I bought it over 27 years ago so it was touching to see it meant that much to him. I look at it every day and still love it. So yes we had different types. In London where my husband grew up jazz was the secret pass time for some of the elders in our congregation. Some played in a small band in pubs around S.E. London, again only those who were in the know found out.
Glad to hear you still have your appreciation intact, as for me without literature I would have not survived my youth.
Kind regards
Chicken little ( I will send you a picture of my painting if you would like to see it in a pm)

So sad and with what purpose? Denying her own humanity for the whims of a few men alienated from the real world? Miss Grace and wish her all the best xx -

Remember a very thin special pioneer couple that left bethel under a cloud (wife was very emotionally unstable, running up and down corridors screaming in her nightdress) they were accused of gluttony because they eat so much at gatherings where there was a buffet. My husband said a group of elders had to counsel them.
I wonder who counselled the elder who could eat so much pizza, at a take as you want restaurant, that the owners asked him not to come back!

What is the alternative to JW?
by Formerbrother ini mean this with all due respect, i would like to hear from genuine people who think jw have it wrong and then what is the truth?.
im not talking about silly little quibbles here and there.. is jehovah real?
the the bible is word?

The video with the "truth fairy" on youtube contains a gem of wisdom that has stuck with me since I first watched it many years ago.
"The greatest obstacle to finding truth is believing you already have it". Think about that sentence, can we deny it? Everytime the JWs change their doctrine they are changing their truth and thereby it is not truth, the moot expression "old truth" is ridiculous when you read that God does not change.
When the witnesses use the expression "where shall we go to?" they forget that Peter said Jesus was the way, the truth and the light, so really if you believe (I do not) then you have no real problem if you turn to your Jesus and approach God through him.
I do understand how difficult it is to start down this road to find answers to your inner turmoil, it takes time, in my case around three years, before I rejected god, the bible and religion in general.
By the way one of the main ways you can see that Jws do not have real christianity is shown when you fade away from the religion. When the elders finally (if ever) come to visit you they are interested in finding out if your still believe that God is using the faithful and discreet slave (not sure which edition of it is current now) to lead the organization. They NEVER ask the most pertinent question of all "Do you believe in God or Jesus". In fact you can be disfellowshipped for not believing in the F&DS but not necessarily for losing faith in god.
So what does that tell you? They are only interested in the org, not in being true shepherds, it is all about control. Read Crisis of Conscience by Ray Franz it will help you a great deal to follow your own values rather than a man made organization that claims to be directed by God.
P.s. Geoffrey Jackson could not even say it out loud that the GB were the spirit directed organization used by God today, when questioned by a lawyer at the Australian Royal Commission, so there you go.
Best wishes with your quest.

Feeling rejected
by Esmeralda001 injust a little disclaimer: english isn't my first language (i'm from france) thus the poor writing skills.here is the situation: i'm not a jw.
however, i'm in the process of becoming one.
in fact, i'm studying with the jw's, and i'll proceed to become an unbaptized publisher as soon as i finish the first book.to make a long story short i was introduced to the truth when i was 18een.

Imagine living forever and ever with these people....does that put you off? Well it certainly did put me off, so I eventually walked away and all the gossip, backbiting and envy is now a thing of the past. I surround myself with people who want me to succeed, love my appearance and enjoy giving compliments, just as I reciprocate in like.
Life is short, enjoy it and live it to the full. Wasting your time on a 19th century revivalist religion is only going to pull you down into depression in the long run. How wonderful you will become a doctor and be of great assistance to your fellow citizens, how I wish it had been me, but that opportunity was not allowed in the close minded JW world.
